PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has increased the daily wage of anti-polio workers from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.
According to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), the wages of anti-polio workers have been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.
The anti-polio workers will also be given a special allowance of Rs 1,000 per day. They will now get an allowance of Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000. The Deputy Commissioners of all the districts have been informed about this by the Finance Department.
A few days ago, Prime Minister Imran Khan had a telephonic conversation with American business magnate Bill Gates to discuss the status of the coronavirus and the polio campaign. According to sources, the prime minister apprised him of the significant decline in coronavirus cases in Pakistan.
The prime minister said that the support of Bill Gates Foundation during the coronavirus epidemic has helped Pakistan. He said that the was effectively countered by the infrastructure set up for polio.
PM Imran Khan said that eradication of polio was the top priority of the government. Bill Gates said that the resumption of the campaign to eradicate polio is encouraging. He said that proper precautions should be taken to prevent corona during the polio campaign.
