KARACHI: City Police on Friday claimed to have arrested the robber who shot dead Bilal Nasir, an NED engineering student, in the metropolis for resisting a robbery the other day.

Bilal was killed on Thursday at a tea spot near NED University when bandits wanted to rob him of his cellphone and other belongings. However, when he offered resistance, the street criminal opened fire, killing Bilal on the spot, and fled from the scene.

His murder had triggered widespread protests both at social media as well as several places in Karachi including his own university where speakers blasted provincial government for its failure to provide security to the general public.

Reports gathered by MM News revealed that the district East Police arrested prime suspect Nizam during a raid on Nizam Goth, Super Highway, who had confessed to commit several other crimes.
Initial information shared by local police suggest the weapon used in the murder has also been recovered. Suspect Nizam has been injured in various police encounters in the past, and has also been to jail once, but was freed after only 8 days, say Police.
Officials said raids were underway to Nizam’s accomplice who had also been identified.
