KARACHI: Dengue fever virus has claimed another life as a patient died at a private hospital in Sindh’s capital.

The total number of dengue cases in Karachi has now reached 14,317 since 1st January 2019. The death toll has risen to 37 this year.

The victim was identified as a 42-years-old man, belonging to Liaquatabad area, who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

In this regard, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has inaugurated an anti-dengue campaign in Karachi where he announced the establishment of camps to conduct free blood tests.

While inaugurating the campaign, Governor Ismail had announced that the anti-dengue spray would be given across the area, while camps were being established to conduct a free dengue test which costs at least Rs1600 in laboratories.

Dengue is rapidly spreading throughout Pakistan. According to the spokesperson of the anti-dengue program, the highest number of victims has been reported from Karachi.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease in recent years. The virus is transmitted by female mosquitoes mainly.
The dengue virus has no specific treatment or cure. The one affected with the virus rest, drink plenty of fluids and consult a doctor.
