ISLAMABAD: 179 cases of the dengue fever virus have been filed in Karachi and an additional 155 cases in Punjab in the past 48 and 24 hours respectively.
The total number of people affected by dengue in the Karachi has now reached 3,045. The death toll has been raised to 11 people so far.
In Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, dengue cases are continuously rising despite the government’s claims to control the epidemic.
An additional 129 people have been diagnosed with dengue in Rawalpindi. The city has been the worst affected by the disease with around 4,254 people diagnosed. Health officials say 2,300 people have been discharged after treatment.
According to details, 125 new cases from Rawalpindi, 5 from Layyah, 3 each from Sheikhupura, Muzaffargarh, Multan, Khanewal and Bhakkar, 2 each from Lahore, Gujarat, and Sargodha have been reported in the province.
As per the Dengue Expert Advisory Group, around 9 people have died due to the dengue virus from January till September 2019 in Punjab.
In KPK, around 57 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours with 21 from Peshawar alone.
According to Dengue Response Unit, the number of dengue patients admitted in Peshawar hospitals is1867, whereas, the hospitals in Bunir and Charsadda have continuously been receiving new patients.
