Karachi on Monday recorded its hottest day of the year, with temperatures soaring to 44.1 degrees Celsius.

The sweltering heat forced many people to remain indoors during the day.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had earlier forecast the temperature to remain between the range of 41°C and 43°C.

The meteorological data showed that despite a slight dip later in the day, the heat remained severe, with temperatures still hovering around 40°C, offering little relief to residents.

Different parts of the city reported similarly high readings.

At Jinnah Terminal, the temperature reached 43.7°C, while Gulistan-e-Johar recorded 43.3°C.

Other areas also experienced extreme heat, with Maripur registering 43°C and Bin Qasim recording 42.1°C.
