City authorities have imposed a week-long closure of Jahangir Road in Karachi, affecting the stretch between Teen Hatti and Gurumandir, effective from today.
The restriction has been put in place to allow essential construction and rehabilitation work to be carried out on the deteriorated roadway.
Traffic police said alternative arrangements have been made to minimise disruption during the closure. Vehicles travelling from Teen Hatti towards Gurumandir will be redirected via Jail Chowrangi.
Meanwhile, drivers of heavy commercial vehicles have been instructed to use longer diversionary routes through Dak Khana Chowrangi, Askari Park, or Nazimabad No. 1 Chowrangi.
Officials acknowledged that Jahangir Road has been in poor condition for years, with persistent potholes creating daily difficulties for motorists and commuters. Despite undergoing multiple repair efforts in the past, the road has continued to deteriorate, prompting the latest round of development work.
Authorities have urged motorists to follow traffic advisories and cooperate with law enforcement personnel to avoid congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow during the repair period.
