Islamabad Police issue fresh advisory for commuters

ISLAMABAD: As the federal capital braces for a new phase of high-level diplomatic activity, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a fresh advisory for commuters navigating the city’s primary corridors.

Following the recent departure of the Iranian delegation and reports that Iran’s Foreign Minister might come to Islamabad again ahead of his Russia visit, new security protocols are being established to manage the ongoing movement of international representatives, leading to a series of strategic traffic adjustments across the capital.

Police authorities have confirmed that diversions will be implemented at various intervals on both the Express Highway and Srinagar Highway. Unlike the total lockdowns seen earlier this week, these measures are designed to be dynamic, allowing for the secure passage of foreign teams while attempting to keep the city’s main veins functional.

Commuter relief as Green Buses and Metro service return to twin cities

The Expressway from Koral to Zero Point remains a high-priority zone, and the ITP has cautioned that traffic flow may be significantly affected during these operational windows. Citizens are strongly advised to plan their journeys with extra time in hand to account for potential delays at security checkpoints and rerouting points.

To mitigate the impact on daily life, a heavy presence of the City Traffic Police has been deployed across the twin cities. Personnel are stationed at key junctions to guide motorists through alternative routes and ensure that even during temporary stoppages, the gridlock is managed efficiently.

Official Advisory: The administration has requested that all citizens cooperate with the personnel on duty and exercise patience. For the safety and convenience of the public, the Islamabad Traffic Police remains active on the roads to provide real-time guidance.

This latest update follows a period of intense security where the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad were effectively partitioned to host the US-Iran peace talks. While the partial restoration of the Metro Bus Service from Saddar to Shaheed-e-Millat and the return of the Green Bus fleet signaled a return to normalcy, these new highway diversions indicate that the diplomatic mission is not yet fully concluded.

As the capital continues to host international delegates, including representatives involved in the broader regional peace process and the upcoming EU-Pakistan Business Forum, residents should expect a “fluid” traffic environment. To avoid the frustration of previous days—where commuters were diverted through village routes like Sagri and Adiala—staying tuned to the 15 helpline and official traffic radio remains essential for smooth transit.
