ISLAMABAD: The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and the UAE will arrive in Islamabad today for a one-day visit to discuss the situation in Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK).
Saudi Foreign Minister Adil Al Jubeir and UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan will be in Islamabad.
They will meet Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
According to the Saudi embassy in Islamabad and diplomatic sources, topics that would be discussed in the Pakistan-Saudi and Pakistan-UAE meetings include bilateral relations, affairs, and the situation in the region, including that of Afghanistan and especially Kashmir, as well as global matters.
On Wednesday, the Saudi Press Agency tweeted that PM Khan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke over the phone and discussed the latest developments in the occupied region.
During the last week, Prime Minister Imran Khan had spoken over the phone with Saudi Crown Mohammad Bin Salman and His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
It to be noted here that this is the third phone call between the two leaders since India revoked Kashmir’s autonomous status on 5th August. Tensions between Pakistan and India flared up after the move.
India has restricted movement and shut down phones and the internet in occupied Kashmir, bringing in tens of thousands of Indian troops to turn the main city of Srinagar into a fortress.
