An Indian content creator was taken aback when he discovered “Made in Pakistan” merchandise at Harvard University in the US. Ishan Sharma, who has been sharing his experiences from his US trip on social media, visited the prestigious university to purchase some memorabilia. To his surprise, he found a jacket priced at Rs. 12,000 bearing a “Made in Pakistan” tag.
Sharma shared photos of himself wearing the jacket on social media, along with a post expressing his surprise: “Came to Harvard to buy merch. This one’s Rs. 12,000! But made in Pakistan?!”

The post quickly went viral, sparking a range of reactions among South Asian social media users, from amusement to disbelief. One user on X, Mahesh, quipped, “Indian goes to America to buy made in Pakistan clothes, interesting.”
Another user joked, “Even Harvard has been outsourcing to Asia,” while someone else added, “Now all South Asian moms can say we have Harvard at home.”
Not every answer, though, was humorous. A user voiced disapproval of the merchandise’s quality, commenting, “Quality is really bad. I picked a few last year, and after 2-3 washes, they’re now only good for mopping the floor. Official merch.”
Some users also pointed out that many clothes in Western markets are manufactured in South Asia. “Most of the things one buys in America, including luxury brands, are made in the subcontinent, especially Bangladesh,” another user noted.
