RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has maintained that Indian provocations particularly the recent targeting of a UN observers’ vehicle were a threat to regional peace and stability.
“Indian Army shall always get a befitting response to any misadventure or aggression they initiate,” the army chief said, while visiting forward troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) today (Tuesday).
During the visit, COAS Bajwa was briefed about the latest situation including the Indian Cease Fire Violations (CFVs) where the hostile neighbor deliberately targeted innocent civilians along LOC.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief was also briefed over the recent targeting of a UN vehicle by Indian troops against all international norms and conventions.
Following the updates, the COAS appreciated operational preparedness and high morale of the troops, while he also lauded officers and personnel for continued vigilance and professionalism.
COAS Bajwa underscored that Pakistan Army shall take measures to protect innocent civilians along LOC and defend honour, dignity & territorial integrity of motherland at all costs.
Earlier on Dec 18, the ISPR said that the Indian Army resorted to unprovoked fire in Chirikot Sector of the LoC and deliberately targeted a UN vehicle with two military observers on board.
The UN military observers were en route to Polas village in Chirikot sector to interact with villagers affected by unabated ceasefire violations by India. The UN on Saturday confirmed the incident and said that it was probing into it.
