India has made 8mn Kashmiris hostage: FM

NEW YORK: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the Indian government has made eight million people hostage by clamping the curfew in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).
While talking to President of International Crisis Group, Robert Malley, the foreign minister stressed on the need to resolve bilateral issues in South Asia for durable peace and stability in the region.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi told Robert Malley about the deteriorating situation leading to the worst humanitarian crisis in Kashmir.
The foreign minister said that the people of Kashmiri have no access to essential commodities including basic food and medicines.

The foreign minister praised the role of international media and human rights organizations for exposing Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
Since August, India in a unilateral move abrogated Articles 370 granting special status to occupied Kashmir. The move was followed by the imposition of curfew and communication blackout in the valley.
