ISLAMABAD: Former GB Chief Justice Rana Shamim’s affidavit in contempt case has been received by the Islamabad High Court.
According to private TV sources, the statement of former Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Justice retired Rana Shamim was received by the Registrar of the Islamabad High Court from London, after which the Registrar affixed another seal on the already sealed envelope.
The envelope received by the court reads “Confidential” which can only be opened by the Chief Justice, which will be presented in the court during the hearing on Monday.

Earlier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) had deferred the decision of indicting former Chief Judge of Gilgit Baltistan Rana Shamim in contempt of court case.
During the hearing, the IHC has again sought the original affidavit of the chief judge. The parties are free to record their response on Rana Shamim’s statement, the court remarked.
The attorney general said the ex-CJ had deliberately leaked his affidavit, adding that the proceedings regarding indicting him can be resumed after submission of the original affidavit.
Subsequently, the court has adjourned the hearing till December 20.
