How often should you use Retinol serum?

In recent years, retinol has gained popularity in the skin care market, due to its support of graceful aging and its beneficial effects on acne and skin tone.

Retinol can do wonders for your skin; aging support, acne relief, and overall skin rejuvenation. In short, it is a multitasking skincare you can add to your routine.

However, based on its variety, many people are confused about when or how much to use the serum. Let’s find out:

What is Retinol?

Retinol is one of many members of the retinoid family, the compounds derived from vitamin A. It comes as a liquid serum, gel, cream, and emollient. 

When to use Retinol?

Retinoids work best if you use them at night because of light because of light.  

How often should you use retinol?

One should start using retinol twice a week (every three days) in the evenings or at night. If you aren’t experiencing any redness or flakiness the next day.

Side effects

While your skin is adjusting to retinol, it’s normal to see some side effects, including:

redness

irritation

flakiness

stinging feeling

skin peeling

How often to use retinol

Use retinol once or twice a week at first to see how your skin reacts, and gradually work up to every other day or three times a week. Another key tip for using retinol is to incorporate it into your nighttime skincare routine only, as it makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight.
