The Government of Sindh has imposed a ban on any increase in school transport fares, following directives from Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to shield parents from additional financial burden amid rising fuel prices.
In a letter issued by the Sindh School Education Department, all government and private schools have been instructed to maintain existing pick-and-drop charges for students.
The order applies not only to school-managed transport but also to private transport arrangements operated by parents.
Authorities emphasised that no fare hike will be allowed under any circumstances, despite the increase in petroleum prices, and warned institutions against passing on additional costs to parents.
The government has also decided to extend facilities to transport operators to help them manage operational challenges without raising fares.
Educational institutions have been directed to ensure full implementation of the orders and to submit complete data regarding student transport services. This includes details of all vans and transport vehicles operating under their arrangements.
Officials cautioned that strict action may be taken against any school or transport provider found violating the directive, underscoring the government’s commitment to enforcing the decision across the province.
