QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Amanullah Khan Yasinzai visited snow and rain-hit areas of the province on Sunday to review relief operations.
The governor visited Pishin, Killa Saifullah, Muslim Bagh’s Khan Mehtarzai and other areas which were heavily affected by recent rain and snowfall.
He instructed the concerned departments to take precautionary measures to deal with rain and snow incidents as Met office has forecast more rain and snowfall in the province from Tuesday.
He also appealed to the national and international organizations to provide aid to the snow and rain affected people of the province.
On the occasion, the governor distributed rations, blankets, fodders for animals and other items among the affected people.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan had said government is endeavouring to ensure timely provision of relief assistance to the snow hit people in different parts of the province.
The chief minister was presiding over a meeting in Quetta to review measures being taken for rehabilitation of people in the recent heavy snow fall and rains affected areas of the province.
Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) informed the meeting that 20 people were killed and twenty three others injured as a result of the heavy snow fall, while 176 houses have collapsed.
