The government has decided to make the assets of public officials partially accessible to the public from December 2026 through a new digital declaration system, officials informed the Senate Standing Committee on Finance during a briefing on governance and accountability measures.

During a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance chaired by Saleem Mandviwalla, officials from the Establishment Division briefed members that government officers would digitally declare their assets by December 2026, while part of these declarations would also be accessible to the public.

According to officials, the IT system of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) would be used, and red flags would be raised in cases of unusual increases in officers’ assets.

The meeting also discussed the seizure and auction of 2,000 bags of dry milk by Customs Enforcement Karachi. Committee members questioned why bags worth Rs544 million were auctioned for only Rs200 million. Customs officials maintained that the shipment documents were fake; however, the committee directed authorities to investigate the matter and submit a report within a week.

The committee further reviewed incidents of fires in FBR warehouses and discrepancies in the weight of confiscated silver in Quetta.
