Fresh clashes have been reported at the Pak-Afghan border, security sources said on Friday.
Since around 7 pm, Pakistani border posts opposite Afghanistan’s Khost, Paktika and Paktia provinces have come under attack, according to security sources.
The same stretch of frontier, also bordering Kunar Province and Nangarhar Province, witnessed cross-border hostilities the previous night.
These five Afghan provinces have long been described by Pakistani officials as areas where Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) maintains a significant presence.
Security officials claimed that Afghan Taliban forces and large TTP groups are carrying out coordinated assaults on Pakistani positions, claiming there is effectively no distinction between the two on the ground.
The attacks come despite repeated statements from Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, who has maintained that the TTP is an internal matter for Pakistan.
There has been no immediate independent confirmation of the claims, and tensions along the border remain high.
