ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to further increase the prices of electricity and gas.
According to the details, the federal government has decided to increase the rates of electricity and gas by bringing the mini-budget. Plans are underway to generate revenue of up to 200 billion rupees with the help of additional taxes.
Despite various claims, the federal government could not convince the IMF. The finance minister lost control over the value of the currency despite having many years of experience. A mini-budget was decided to clear the deadlock in the IMF talks.
In the first phase of the current financial year, the price of electricity will be increased by Rs. 4 and in the second phase by Rs. 4.50 paise per unit, while the current tariff of 650 per unit of gas will be implemented at an average rate of 1100 MMBTU.
On the other hand, the federal government led by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has increased the federal excise duty on sweet drinks and cigarettes. Various factors are also being considered for increasing GST on petroleum products.
