South African batsman Hashim Amla has announced his retirement from international cricket.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the 39-year-old cricketer was playing for Surrey but has now confirmed to the county that he is unavailable for the team.
Hashim Amla said, “I have happy memories at the Oval, saying goodbye to him as a player makes me even more grateful.” It should be noted that Surrey County won the championship in 2022 in the presence of Hashim Amla.
Hashim Amla played 124 Tests, 181 ODIs and 44 T20 Internationals for South Africa. He scored 9,282 runs at an average of 46.64 in 124 Test matches, which included 28 centuries, scored 8,113 runs with 27 centuries in 181 ODI matches, and scored 1,277 runs in 44 T20 International matches.
Hashim Amla’s highest score in Test cricket is 311 not out which he scored against England at the Oval in 2012. He is also the first South African batsman to score a triple century.
