NEW YORK: Singer Ellie Goulding has opened up about ways to give the digestive system a break.
In an interview, “The Love Me Like You Do” singer revealed that she sometimes fasts up to 40 hours. “t is a great way to give your digestive system a break,” she explained.
Ellie Goulding also revealed that she only drinks water, tea, and coffee during the fasting period.
The 33-year-old singer said that she fasts in order to reduce inflammation. “I do it very safely by having a purposefully nutritious food day the day before and after,” she said.
“During fasting, I drink high-grade electrolytes and a lot of water (plus tea and coffee). Fasting is safe and beneficial unless you are diabetic or have serious health issues,” Goulding said.
The singer further said, “I built my way up to 40-hour fasts over time (started with 12) as it is a great way to give your digestive system a break.”
Ellie has had an incredible career since releasing her debut album a decade ago, during which time she has scored three No1 singles and landed two Brit Awards.
Her fourth album is expected to be released this summer, and it will be her first collection since 2015’s Delirium, after which she took a break from the industry.
