LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is understood to have decided to meet for a consultative meeting today over the nomination of Punjab CM as parliamentary committee failed to reach a consensus over the matter of appointment of the Punjab caretaker chief minister.

MM News has learnt that the ECP will decide about the name of the caretaker chief minister of the province within two days, is set to hold final meeting tomorrow (Sunday) at around 6pm after which it will notify the name of Caretaker CM of Punjab.
It may be mentioned here that the PTI-PML-Q alliance had suggested names of Naveed Akram Cheema and Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera as candidates for the post of caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, whereas the PMLN-led opposition tabled the names of Mohsin Naqvi and Ahad Cheema.
Political sources aligned with the PDM claimed that Naveed Akram Cheema – the candidate nominated by PTI-led coalition, – refused to be part of the Punjab caretaker set-up after being contacted by the PML-N.

The parliamentary committee, comprises the government and the opposition members, failed to reach a consensus on the name for the caretaker Punjab chief minister slot on Friday, after which the matter proceeded towards the ambit of the ECP.
