An earthquake on Wednesday jolted Islamabad and various cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing distress and fear among citizens.
The Pakistan Seismological Center reported that the earthquake was felt in Chitral, Buner, and nearby areas, as well as in Peshawar, Abbottabad, Shangla, Malakand, and other parts of the region.
The earthquake was also witnessed in Swat, Swabi, Charsadda, Mardan, Hangu, Mansehra, Khyber, Bara, Landi Kotal, Jamrud, and Tirah in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with surrounding areas.
According to Pakistan Seismological Center, the earthquake’s depth was measured at 220 kilometers, with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
Recently, cities in KP affected by quake tremors included Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar, Swat, North Waziristan, Hangu, Mardan, Malakand, Buner, Shangla, Dir, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Kohistan, Abbottabad, and Kurram.
The strong tremors were also felt in Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sialkot, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lalamusa, and Sangla Hill. There were no immediate reports of any loss of life or property.
