MIRPUR: The death toll on Wednesday rose to at least 33 with more than 500 injured from strong earthquakes in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Earlier on Tuesday, the 5.8-magnitude earthquake shook AJK and several cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and injured 459 people while the condition of 160 is reportedly critical.
The quake was 10 kilometres deep was felt in most of Punjab province and some parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The worst-hit was Mirpur, Azad Kashmir.
Near Mirpur, roads were completely damaged and vehicles overturned by the tremors while bridges, mobile phone towers, and electricity poles were also badly damaged in the melee.
Following the quake, tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Murree, Jhelum, Charsadda, Swat, Khyber Agency, Abbottabad, Bajaur, Nowshera, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, and Kohistan.
