NDMA reveals damages occurred in AJK earthquake

ISLAMABAD: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released the details of damage that occurred as a result of Tuesday’s earthquake in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (A&JK).
According to NDMA, around 30 people have died and 450 have been injured in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The epicentre of the 5.8-magnitude quake was near the Kashmiri city of Mirpur, roughly 20 kilometres (12 miles) north of Jhelum in the agricultural Punjab province.
Roads were completely destroyed and vehicles overturned by the tremors near Mirpur while bridges, mobile phone towers, and electricity poles were also badly damaged.
The NDMA added that most damages occurred in Bhimbar, Mirpur and adjoining areas, whereas, the bridge connecting Bhimbar and Mirpur has also been destroyed. There was no electricity supply in District Mirpur and Kotli and main Jatlan road has also been destructed.
According to NDMA, 200 tents, blankets, and kitchen sets have been dispatched for the relief of victims. Along with that, 200 ambulances, 6 rescue cars, and 11 rescuers have also reached the affected areas.
Tremors were also felt in Rawalpindi, Murree, Jhelum, Charsadda, Swat, Khyber, Abbottabad, Bajaur, Nowshera, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar and Kohistan.
