NEW YORK: Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged the members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take the situation of Indian occupied Kashmir’s seriously.
The prime minister spoke at a dinner in the honour of delegates of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on the sidelines of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Expressing his disappointment over the international community’s attitude on Kashmir crisis, the prime minister questioned what would be the reaction of the world if eight million Europeans, Jews or even eight Americans were put under siege.
The prime minister asked that how could the global community remain silent when eight million people have been treated worse than animals.
He further added, “Over one billion Muslims are watching this unfold. But where is the world community? This will have repercussions and will create radicalisation. I am flagging this right now.”
The premier said: “If eight million Europeans or Jews or Americans were put under siege […] well even if eight Americans had been put under siege, you can imagine the reaction.”
He further added that Muslim countries must awaken the international community about the plight of the people in Kashmir.
The prime minister will conclude his day-long engagements by giving an interview to a journalist. Khan will address the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) this upcoming Friday.
