Actress Sanam Jung, who is starring in a drama serial titled ‘Pyari Mona’, opened up about how being constantly body shamed once led her to quit acting.
The former TV host in an interview with FUCHSIA opened up about her experience of being judged for her weight gain and said, “I do remember when I was expecting Alaya, it was very tough for me to find clothes — I was doing morning shows at the time.”
She recalled, “Even after that, it was quite difficult for me as designers have limited sizes and not everybody wants to give you clothes when you’re a certain size, which is really sad. It’s not fair. Why? Why do you always think that these clothes would only suit a thin girl?”
Jung said she felt like stylists do not want to style her. The Mein Na Janoo actress revealed that she was deeply affected by such certain behaviour to the point that she started to consider giving up.
“At that time I wanted to hide my face. I did not want to do it, I did not want to appear on television, I don’t want to work,” she said.

She added, “This is very disturbing for me, I am already going through postpartum, I don’t understand how to handle my child, I’m a new mother — I don’t know what’s happening with me and then I’m reading comments.”
Revealing that it affected her a lot, Jung said she had a lot of family support that got her through it. For Jung, her journey has now brought her to a point where she can stand up against fatphobia in the drama serial ‘Pyari Mona’ has addresses body shaming. Sanam plays a plus-sized character in the show.
