ISLAMABAD: Intelligence agencies are reported to have timely busted a major network of suicide bombers, thus averting likely disasters in several parts of the country, and recovered Afghan SIMs, drugs and currencies.

According to reports provided to media by security sources on Saturday, a suicide attack had taken place at Jamrud check post, followed by gunfire in which 3 policemen were martyred. Suicide bomber had blown himself up during the attack, and the banned outfit TTP had claimed responsibility.
Security agencies had collected bullet casings, body parts for forensics examination, while geo-fencing and CCTV footages were also analyzed.

Sources said as per information received on January 21, a TTP terrorist named Umar had carried out the suicide attack. He was facilitated by Satana Jan, a resident of Tehsil Jamrud.
Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on January 23 and captured Farmanullah and Abdul Qayyum, who are related to the suicide bomber. The TTP admitted that Satana Jan, the facilitator, was killed in the operation.

Another operation was conducted on the information of presence of 3 suspects on January 27. Facilitators Fazl Amin, Fazl Ahmed, Mohammad Amir and Hamadullah, as well as two Afghan nationals were captured in the operation. Facilitator Fazal Ahmed revealed that the suicide bomber was an Afghan citizen.
Satana Jan provided weapons and a suicide jacket to the suicide bomber, while facilitator Fazal Ahmed took pictures of the target spot with his mobile phone on January 18. Satana Jan was running the outlawed TTP North Waziristan, and was using 4 houses to remain underground.
The same houses were used for launching suicide attacks. The Afghan suicide bomber was sent from Afghanistan by his handlers.
