Recently, actress Urwa Hocane shared a story on Instagram in which she spoke about self-respect and national dignity.
Although Urwa Hocane did not mention anyone by name in her post, her words gave the impression that she was indirectly referring to actress Hania Aamir, who had thanked her Indian fans after her Instagram account was blocked in India.
In her post, Urwa Hocane wrote, “Propaganda is a weapon used in wars, and unfortunately, we have been suffering from it for decades. When there is a war, you should maintain your self-respect and stand with your people.”
She further wrote, “It is more important to take care of your own home first.” Her message went viral on social media, and users quickly pointed out that it was directed at Hania Aamir.
In a video statement, Urwa Hocane spoke in more detail about self-respect and the situation Pakistan and its artists are currently facing after the Pahalgam false flag operation, without naming any artist, which earned her praise from various artists and social media users.

It is worth noting that Hania Aamir had thanked her Indian fans for accessing her Instagram account via VPN. One Indian fan wrote, “Hello Hania, got a VPN subscription just for you, love from India,” to which Hania replied, “Love you.” Another fan wrote, “We’ll view your posts even from Mars,” to which Hania responded, “So sweet.”
However, after Instagram was blocked in India, there was a significant drop in the number of likes and comments on Hania Aamir’s posts. While her posts used to receive millions of likes, they are now limited to just a few thousand. This situation is not only affecting Hania Aamir but also impacting the popularity of other Pakistani artists.
All of this emerged when India began blocking the social media accounts of Pakistani artists, including those of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the DG ISPR. Following that, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar’s account was also blocked in India. These actions have sparked strong reactions from the Pakistani government and public.
Urwa Hocane’s indirect criticism of Hania Aamir has sparked a new debate on social media, where on one hand national dignity and self-respect are being discussed, while on the other hand, the global popularity of artists and their relationship with fans are also under discussion.
