ZHOB: The death toll in the passenger bus accident in the Dana Sar area has reached 30, with officials fearing the number may rise further as rescue teams continue to pull bodies from the wreckage of the ill-fated vehicle.
MM News has learnt that the ill fated passenger bus, which was travelling from Quetta to Peshawar, fell into a deep gorge in the mountainous Dana Sar area on the border of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The accident occurred in the border area of Sherani district in Balochistan and Dera Ismail Khan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
So far, the bodies of 24 people have been recovered from the accident site, while 10 injured passengers have also been rescued from the gorge. The condition of several of the injured is critical, according to officials.
The administrations of Sherani district and Dera Ismail Khan district are engaged in joint relief and rescue operations in the difficult terrain. Emergency teams and ambulances were dispatched immediately after the accident and remain at the site as efforts to recover victims and evacuate the injured continue.
Officials said the death toll is feared to rise as rescue workers are still pulling out bodies from the wreckage. Further details on the cause of the accident are yet to be ascertained.
