KARACHI: A man was injured when a building, which was built on a drain, collapsed in the Sher Shah area, bringing the death toll to 18.
According to details, 17 people were confirmed dead in a gas leakage blast at Paracha Chowk area of Sher Shah till yesterday, after which another died while undergoing treatment.
Four days ago today, an explosion took place in Sher Shah due to alleged gas leakage. However, the SSGC ruled out the possibility of gas leakage. The body of the deceased has been shifted from Karachi to Rajanpur for burial.
The SSGC said there was no gas pipeline at the site of the blast. A special team led by SP Investigation was formed on December 19 to investigate the blast. The blast was investigated from all angles.
A case of the explosion has been registered. Three days, the police said that the bomb disposal unit’s report and preliminary investigation revealed that gas leakage was the cause of the blast, however, services would be sought from other agencies to determine those responsibly.
The case of Sher Shah blast in ‘Site B’ police station of Karachi has registered three days ago on the complaint of SHO. Heavy machinery was used to remove the waste. District police sent a report on the blast to IG Sindh.
It may be recalled that a private bank building was completely destroyed in a powerful explosion at Paracha Chowk four days ago and turned into a pile of rubble. The father of Alamgir Khan, founder of ‘Fixit’ and a member of the National Assembly, was also killed in the blast.
