The Sindh government on Thursday ordered a province-wide crackdown on public service vehicles operating without valid route permits, fitness certificates, or with expired documentation, according to an official notification issued by the Transport and Mass Transit Department.

The directive said that an increased number of inter-city and intra-city vehicles are currently running either without proper documentation or on expired permits and certificates.

Authorities have been instructed to launch a special inspection campaign targeting such operators and to take strict action against those overcharging passengers beyond approved fare limits.

The notification also reaffirmed a complete ban on the use of CNG and LPG in school transport and inter-city public service vehicles, emphasizing that no vehicle should be allowed on the roads without fulfilling legal requirements.

Officials have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1965 and the Motor Vehicles Rules 1969.

In addition, the department has introduced a digitized system for issuing route permits and fitness certificates. All such documents are now being processed electronically, and manual permits will soon be phased out to enhance transparency and efficiency.
