RAWALPINDI: Police on Tuesday arrested a couple for smuggling weapons in Rawalpindi.
Racecourse police station foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons and has taken the couple into custody.
They also recovered illegal weapons, huge rounds of ammunition, and gun magazines from their possession. A case has also been lodged against them.
Police claimed to have recovered six 9mm pistols and ammunition from them. They have been identified as Fazal Malik and his wife Haya Noor.
According to a police spokesman, Race Course police managed to nab the accused smuggling weapons. Police vowed to soon arrest their accomplices.
Superintendent Police (SP) Potohar appreciated the performance of the Station House Officer (SHO) Race Course Police Station and his team.
He directed them to continue operations against lawbreakers and take strict action in accordance with the law against anti-social elements.
