A day earlier, a woman in Lahore, named Aisha Bibi, called Prime Minister Khan during his live call show on the state TV and told him about her predicament regarding her inability to recover her outstanding dues from the previous occupier of her house
During the phone call, the widow told the premier that though she with the help of police managed to vacate her house a year ago from the illegal occupiers but she could not retrieve the outstanding dues from them.
According to the woman, she had filed several complaints with Pakistan Citizen Portal, but nothing happened. The Prime Minister, while taking prompt action on her request, directed his staff to sort her problem.
Today (Monday), the district police has recovered the arrears of a widow’s house in Defense, Lahore. The woman has expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for solving her problem. Live calls help the Prime Minister to gauge the performance of the various departments and to get first-hand information on the issues facing the public.
Overseas complaint
Earlier in April, the government suspended the ambassador to Saudi Arabia and recalled six of the diplomats posted at the embassy in Riyadh over improper treatment of the Pakistanis living in the kingdom. An inquiry was also ordered against the ambassador and the recalled diplomats.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, while talking to ambassadors, said the PM Citizen’s Portal had been receiving frequent complaints from overseas Pakistanis about the unnecessary delays in services, indifferent attitude of the embassies’ staff, lack of top-level supervision and passion to solve problems.
“I am shocked to receive complaints from overseas Pakistanis that our embassies are doing nothing to resolve their problems. Therefore this time I want to monitor and evaluate the performance of our embassies abroad,” the prime minister said.
The Citizen Portal
The Pakistan Citizen Portal is a flagship project of the PTI government launched two years ago to have a close rapport with the citizenry and help redress their grievances.
The portal is indeed a first notable step towards empowering people in terms of granting them access to the country’s top leadership for the resolution of their complaints. The portal also serves as a good mechanism of checks and balances.
It provides a credible basis for giving promotions and incentives to high performing civil servants, and for their demotion, and even removal from service, on bad performance.
This online complaint cell is managed by PM performance delivery unit (PMDU). The main purpose of this cell is to provide citizens with an opportunity to communicate with government officials and have their issues resolved quickly.
