LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has tested negative for COVID-19 after being admitted to a hospital.
However, doctors at the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) said his right lung was infected with pneumonia. The coronavirus test was conducted as a standard operating procedure (SOP) of the provincial health department. They stated that Hussain’s health condition has improved and there was no need to place him on a ventilator but no one is allowed to meet him except his family.
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain had been shifted to hospital on Friday due to a chest infection. According to his nephew Moonis Elahi, his condition is said to be stable. In a tweet, Moonis Elahi thanked the political leadership, party workers, friends and symapthisers who wished the PML-Q leader an early recovery.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has phoned to inquire after the health of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and hoped for a speedy recovery. The premier conveyed his best wishes for the early recovery of the veteran politician during a telephonic conversation with his son Chaudhry Shafey Hussain.
Political leaders have sent their well wishes for the early recovery of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. Former President Asif Ali Zardari called up Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and inquired about the health of the PML-Q chief.
Federal Minister for Narcotics Control Azam Swati and Prime Minister’s Advisor on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfikar Bukhari also visited the hospital and inquired about his health.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar visited the Services Hospital and directed the doctors to extend best medical facilities to Chaudhry Shujaat. The chief minister also constituted a medical board. Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Energy Minister Dr Akhter Malik and MNA Zain Qureshi also accompanied the Chief Minister Punjab.
