Retail prices of cement in Pakistan saw a modest decline over the past week, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

In the northern region, the average retail price of a 50-kg cement sack was recorded at Rs 1,372 during the week ending October 9, marking a 0.64% decrease from the previous week’s average of Rs 1,381.

Similarly, in the southern region, the average retail price slipped by 0.58%, settling at Rs 1,441 compared to Rs 1,449 the previous week.

City-wise data shows varying prices across key markets:

North: Islamabad Rs 1,345, Rawalpindi Rs 1,346, Gujranwala Rs 1,400, Sialkot Rs 1,370, Lahore Rs 1,408, Faisalabad Rs 1,380, Sargodha Rs 1,360, Multan Rs 1,416, Bahawalpur Rs 1,420, Peshawar Rs 1,350, and Bannu Rs 1,300.

South: Karachi Rs 1,367, Hyderabad Rs 1,427, Sukkur Rs 1,500, Larkana Rs 1,407, Quetta Rs 1,500, and Khuzdar Rs 1,443.

Analysts suggest that the minor price correction reflects a temporary market stabilization following weeks of high construction material costs, though further adjustments may depend on demand trends in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
