In an unusual incident, a baby with four hands and four legs was born in the Hyderabad district of Sindh province, Private TV channel 24 News reported.
According to a source in the health ministry, the baby is healthy, the report added.
The child was born at a private hospital in the city, they said adding that doctors performed surgery and removed extra parts of the newborn.
After the operation, the condition of the child is out of danger, the sources added.
Being born with an extra pair of legs or arms is an extremely rare medical condition known as Polymelia (extra fingers or toes) or supernumerary limbs (extra arms or legs). The experience of individuals born with such conditions can vary widely depending on the specific circumstances and the way the extra limbs are formed.
The impact on a person’s life depends on the functionality of the extra limbs. In some cases, the extra limbs may be fully formed and functional, allowing individuals to use them for specific tasks. In other cases, the extra limbs may be small, nonfunctional, or poorly developed, and they might need to be surgically removed to prevent complications.
