Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), announced on Sunday that each player stands to earn $100,000, roughly equivalent to Rs28 million, in the event of the Green Shirts triumphing in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Naqvi made this announcement while visiting Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, where the Babar Azam-led Pakistan squad had begun their national camp a day earlier.
During his visit, Naqvi engaged with both players and officials, spending two hours with the team, the PCB noted in a post on social media platform X. Additionally, he engaged in detailed discussions with the players regarding strategy.
Stressing the significance of the tournament victory over the monetary reward, Naqvi expressed his desire for the team to hoist the Pakistan flag, emphasizing that each player would receive $100,000 as a reward for their triumph.
Furthermore, Naqvi encouraged the players to perform without pressure and to compete vigorously, assuring them that victory would be attributed to them while shouldering any defeat personally.
“Play solely for Pakistan, demonstrating teamwork on the field, and victory will inevitably be yours,” he conveyed to the team.
Naqvi also expressed his confidence in the unity among the players, particularly highlighting the expectations from fast-bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, urging him to deliver a stellar performance in the tournament.
Addressing the players, he underscored the nation’s high hopes and urged them to meet these expectations, emphasizing their collective responsibility.
