SYDNEY: Australia cricket team coach Justin Langer believed that Australia must tour to England in September despite COVID-19 challenges for the health of the world cricket.
In an interview today (Thursday), former Australian opener said that despite the coronavirus pandemic Australia had to play its part in getting cricket moving again, even if it meant enduring quarantine and biosecurity restrictions.
He said, “My personal view is we have to go to England. There are lots of challenges of course but we have to find solutions to make sure that can happen if possible,” adding, “I think for the health of world cricket.”
The Coach also believed releasing Australia´s big names to join the Indian Premier League (IPL) was also essential as a goodwill gesture, to make sure India go ahead with their Test tour.
Australia’s limited-overs series scheduled for this month in England was postponed due to the coronavirus, and September has been raised as an alternative.
Cricket Australia, which has laid off 15 percent of its, is also desperate to host a money-spinning Test series against India later this year.
The international cricket that was suspended due to the global coronavirus had been restored after 117 days. International cricket activities resumed with England’s home test against West Indies.
