Former accountability court judge Arshad Malik was finally fired. Last year, when Maryam Nawaz held a press conference against him, people were bewildered by a series of revelations. After the video of Arshad Malik came to light, chaos took place in the politics and institutions of the country.
The story revolves around a man, named Mian Tariq from Multan who works in electronics, befriended Arshad Malik under a conspiracy. He used to invite Arshad Malik for time to time. Meanwhile, Mian Tariq organized a party in which the former judge was also invited.
Mian Tariq made some immoral videos of Arshad Malik with the help of his son. This was the turning point for which Mian Tariq befriended Arshad Malik. However, the former judge in a First Information Report filed in 2019, claimed that Mian Tariq trapped him through intoxication.
Mian Tariq’s brother had earlier been sentenced to death by Arshad Malik in a drug case. In order to save him, Mian Tariq used various tactics and started blackmailing Arshad Malik. And under duress, Arshad Malik granted bail to his brother.
Mian Tariq took advantage of the Arshad Malik and was introduced to many influential personalities. Later, Mian Tariq rented a plot in Islamabad F-10 where he used to organized big parties and later blackmailed various personalities by making videos of them. Mian Tariq later sold the footage to the Lahore-based PML-N leader. And the story goes on.
After the dismissal of Arshad Malik, PML-N leaders said that verdict against Nawaz Sharif annulled after removal of an accountability court judge, therefore, the decisions given under pressure against Nawaz Sharif should be declared null and void.
It is not a matter of removing a judge from the office, it is a matter of removing this decision from the court record, which this judge gave under duress. But it seems that Arshad Malik’s video scandal is a ‘Pandora box’. This box will reveal more sensational revelations.
Now all the emphasis of PML-N leaders is on annulling Nawaz Sharif’s sentence and making the courts controversial. The situation will further clearer as the circumstances and facts come to light.
