Another young girl fell into an open manhole in Karachi, but a passer-by at the scene acted quickly and pulled her out, saving her life.
According to details, a first-grade student from a private school slipped into an open manhole near Garam Chashma in the Manghopir area of Karachi.
A citizen passing by immediately rescued the girl from the open manhole. She was identified as Anaya Ameen. The child was returning home from school when she fell in.
It is worth mentioning that on Sunday night, a three-year-old boy, Ibrahim, fell into an open manhole outside a private departmental store near Nipa Chowrangi in Gulshan-i-Iqbal.
Family members and residents of the area arranged machinery on their own to search for the child, but despite the entire night search operation, he could not be found.
A local youth discovered Ibrahim’s body in a drain nearly one kilometer from the spot where he fell about 14 hours after the incident.
Later, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab visited the home of the deceased child. He accepted responsibility for the tragedy and apologised to the family.
Regarding the incident, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) sent its inquiry report to the Secretary of Local Government. The report said that construction work on the BRT Red Line was responsible for the accident.
