Actor Akshay Kumar backs Wamiqa Gabbi, saying she has her own identity as the Hera Pheri star responds to ongoing social media comparisons between his Bhooth Bangla co-star and leading Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Katrina Kaif.
Fans have been drawing parallels between Akshay’s on-screen chemistry with Wamiqa Gabbi in the recently released horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla and his past collaborations with Katrina Kaif. Wamiqa has also frequently been compared to Aishwarya Rai due to her striking eyes and screen presence.
Speaking in an interview, Akshay dismissed the comparisons and backed Wamiqa, saying she is carving her own identity in the industry.
“Her eyes are like Aishwarya Rai’s, but she has her own identity. She is doing things her own way,” he said, adding that she has worked across Punjabi, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil cinema after years of struggle.
Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla also stars Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Jisshu Sengupta, and Tabu. The film marks Akshay and Priyadarshan’s reunion after 14 years. Despite mixed reviews, it has earned around Rs 35 crore domestically.
