Superman: Man of Tomorrow has added a major new name to its cast, with actress Adria Arjona reportedly landing the role of Maxima in the upcoming superhero sequel.
The film is part of James Gunn’s expanding DC Universe (DCU) and serves as a direct follow-up to Superman (2025).
It is currently in production and is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 9, 2027. David Corenswet will reprise his role as Superman, while Nicholas Hoult returns as Lex Luthor. The cast also includes Lars Eidinger as the primary antagonist Brainiac.
Arjona’s character, Maxima, is known in DC lore as an alien warrior queen with superhuman strength and a complex relationship with Superman, often oscillating between ally and adversary depending on the storyline. Her addition is expected to expand the cosmic and intergalactic scope of the DCU.
Filming is set to begin in late April 2026 in Atlanta, Georgia, marking one of the key phases of DC Studios’ long-term cinematic roadmap.
