Sushi Masuda, a small five-seat sushi counter inside another restaurant, is the latest Vancouver eatery to get a Michelin star. It was the only new restaurant in the Canadian city to receive this honor at Thursday’s annual ceremony.
Michelin’s inspector highlighted that you shouldn’t judge a restaurant by its looks. While the space is simple, Chef Yoji Masuda’s sushi is carefully prepared and shows his training in Tokyo.
Now, Vancouver has 10 restaurants with one Michelin star, which is given to places known for excellent cooking that are worth visiting.
