CHILAS: The Karakoram highway has been closed due to a landslide between Gilgit and Chilas Diamer has been reopened for traffic.
According to ISPR, Frontier Works Organization workers removed the debris from the landslide at 23 points and reopened the road after 48 hours of hard work. The FWO reopened the Karakoram Highway between Tatta Pani and Raikot after the Karakoram Highway was closed at various places despite difficult conditions and bad weather.
It is to be noted that landslides took place at nine places on Karakoram Highway in Gilgit-Baltistan after which the work of opening Karakoram Highway was in progress but Gilgit-Astor Road was already opened for traffic.

Due to landslides at various places from Diamer Goharabad to Lal Pari, traffic on Karakoram Highway was suspended for two days while Gilgit-Baltistan Home Department said that Gilgit-Astor Road was blocked at 15 places due to landslides.
It may be recalled that due to the blockage of Karakoram Highway and other sub-roads in Gilgit-Baltistan, most of the tourists were stranded at various places in these areas.
