LAHORE: The Punjab government has shifted the shelter home from the residence of former finance minister Ishaq Dar over the stay order issued by the Lahore High Court.
The move came after when last week former finance minister’s wife filed a petition in the LHC which stated that that the Punjab government had turned their house into a shelter home illegally and that the Islamabad High Court had already issued a stay order in this regard.
The court yesterday in its order ordered the provincial government to submit its response within 10 days and issued a stay order against the turning of Dar’s house into a shelter home.
The government, however, had decided to shift the shelter home from dar’s residence to a park located in front of his house in the Gulberg area, Lahore.
Last week, Dar’s residence in Lahore was turned into a shelter home by the Social Welfare Department. He accused the Punjab government of the act.
The accountability court earlier order to auction Dar’s Gulberg residence and Hajvery House. The order was approved by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The action was taken against him in the assets beyond means case. The houses were initially set for the auction price at Rs180.5 million but failed to find any buyer.
Assistant Commissioner Model Town Lahore, Zeeshan Nasrullah Ranjha had hanged a board of shelter home at the house consists of 12 rooms.
His house was seized in July last year by the district administration. A team, which was headed by the Model Town assistant commissioner, reached the residence to check it and ordered all the people inside to vacate it immediately.
