Malik Farhan Sultan, the prime suspect in the murder case of businessman Majid Satti, has been arrested in Dubai with the assistance of Interpol.
According to police sources, the suspect fled to Dubai following the incident. Pakistani authorities subsequently contacted Interpol and secured the issuance of a Red Notice, following which Dubai Police took action and arrested him.
Officials said that, after completion of the legal formalities, Malik Farhan Sultan will be extradited to Pakistan, where he will undergo detailed interrogation and provide information regarding various aspects of the murder case.
Meanwhile, a Rawalpindi court has announced its verdict in the murder case of businessman Majid Satti, sentencing Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) leader Farrukh Imtiaz Khokhar, Amir Hamza, and Haider Ali alias Ali Jogi to life imprisonment. The court acquitted co-accused Waseem due to insufficient evidence.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ejaz Sufi announced the verdict. Following the ruling, Farrukh Khokhar was arrested from the courtroom, while the other convicted suspects had been brought to court from Adiala Jail.
The court also ordered each convicted accused to pay Rs1 million in compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased. The verdict granted the convicts the benefit of Section 382-B of the Code of Criminal Procedure, under which the period already spent in custody is counted towards the sentence.
Farrukh Khokhar’s lawyers announced that they would challenge the verdict before the High Court, maintaining that their client is innocent.
How was Majid Satti killed?
According to the case record, on August 23, 2022, Majid Satti was in Rawalpindi’s Satellite Town with his uncle and other people. At the time of his departure, he received a call from Qasim Shah and subsequently got into his vehicle.
Later, a motorcycle rider allegedly collided with the vehicle. When Qasim Shah and Majid Satti got out of the car, two men riding a motorcycle allegedly called Majid by name and shot him three times.
He was taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The victim’s uncle, Haji Muhammad Arshad Mahmood, stated in the FIR that Majid had told him before the incident that some people were following him and that he feared he was being targeted for assassination.
According to lawyer Fakhar Hayat Awan, who represented the prosecution, 27 witnesses were presented during the trial, which continued for nearly four years. The court was also presented with forensic, geo-forensic, travel-history, and digital evidence.
Background of Farrukh Khokhar
Farrukh Imtiaz Khokhar belongs to the Khokhar family of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. He is the son of Imtiaz alias Taji Khokhar and the nephew of former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Haji Nawaz Khokhar.
The Khokhar family remained associated with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for several decades. However, Farrukh Khokhar left the PPP in July 2025 and joined Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F).
Khokhar has remained active in business, welfare activities, and social media. His name has previously surfaced in various cases. In January 2023, he was arrested after a court rejected his pre-arrest bail in the Majid Satti murder case.
On July 14, 2026, a court sentenced Farrukh Khokhar and two other accused to life imprisonment in the same case, while acquitting one accused.
