Pakistan’s automobile industry has received a major boost, with vehicle sales across the country witnessing a significant increase. Total vehicle sales surged by 141% in July 2026, marking a strong recovery for the sector.
According to the latest data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), total sales of cars and other vehicles reached 17,216 units in July 2026.
This represents a 141.28% increase compared with the 7,135 units sold during the same month last year, highlighting a significant improvement in market activity and consumer demand.
The data also showed encouraging growth in the sales of electric vehicles (EVs) during July. The trend indicates that consumer preferences in the local market are gradually changing, with buyers showing greater interest in modern, environmentally friendly, and fuel-efficient technologies over conventional vehicles.
The automotive sector had faced considerable economic challenges in recent years due to high vehicle prices and elevated interest rates on bank financing, which affected consumers’ purchasing power and overall demand.
However, the latest July figures suggest that demand for vehicles is now showing signs of a strong recovery.
Industry experts and motor vehicle dealers are closely monitoring the trend in the coming months, as sustained growth in sales could serve as a positive indicator for the broader recovery and future prospects of Pakistan’s automobile industry.
