Selling pressure persisted at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index falling by nearly 700 points during early trading hours.

By 11:08am, the index stood at 165,829.55, reflecting a decline of 669.28 points, or 0.4%.

Broad-based selling was witnessed across major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration, and power generation companies.

A day earlier, the PSX had extended its losing streak as investor sentiment remained weak amid uncertainty over US-Iran tensions and rising global oil prices, which triggered volatile trading dominated by selling in heavyweight stocks.

The KSE-100 Index had closed down by 952.30 points, or 0.57%, at 166,498.84.

Meanwhile, Pakistan also made financial headlines on Thursday after issuing its first Panda Bond in China’s onshore capital market.

The RMB 1.75 billion issuance (around US$250 million) saw strong investor interest, attracting bids worth over RMB 8.8 billion (approximately US$1.26 billion), resulting in more than five times oversubscription.
