The government has formally launched the Prime Minister’s Fan Replacement Program, aimed at promoting energy efficiency and reducing electricity bills across the country.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Federal Minister for Power Awais Leghari said that only high-quality, certified fans manufactured in Pakistan will be provided under the initiative.

He added that priority will be given to consumers in underdeveloped areas and those with lower electricity consumption.

What is the objective of this program?

The primary objective of the program is to reduce electricity consumption by replacing old, inefficient fans with modern energy-efficient models that consume up to 70 percent less electricity.

The government aims to replace millions of inefficient fans nationwide to reduce overall energy demand and improve system stability.

How does it work?

The program offers on-bill financing, allowing consumers to pay for new, energy-saving fans in easy monthly installments added directly to their WAPDA electricity bills.

Financing of up to PKR 300,000 is available, with repayment periods ranging from 6 to 18 months.

Who is eligible?

Consumers can apply for the PM’s Fan Replacement Program if they meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be a homeowner (tenants are not eligible).
  2. Must possess a valid CNIC issued by NADRA.
  3. Must have a registered SIM in their own name for verification.
  4. The electricity connection and bill must be in the applicant’s name.
  5. Must be a domestic (residential) electricity consumer.

How to apply

Eligible consumers can apply through the following steps:

  1. Visit the official portal at efan.gov.pk or download the E-Fan mobile application.
  2. Enter your CNIC number and verify your identity through an OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  3. Provide your electricity bill reference number and required household details.
  4. Upload necessary documents, including your CNIC and latest electricity bill.
  5. Select NEECA-certified 5-star energy-efficient fans and choose an installment plan (6, 12, or 18 months).
  6. Submit the application and save the tracking ID for future reference.

Once approved, the new fans will be delivered to the applicant’s address, and the installment amount will be added to the monthly electricity bill.
