Rumors regarding the death of Altaf Hussain, the founder and former leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), is circulating rapidly on social media, which has created a wave of anxiety in political circles and at the public level across the country, however, the confirmed reports received so far refute these rumors.
An account named Pakistan Voice on social media claimed that Altaf Hussain has passed away; however, this information has not been confirmed by any authentic or official source. Senior MQM leader Mustafa Azizabadi has termed the news as false and explained that Altaf Bhai is undergoing treatment in the hospital, his condition is improving, and doctors are continuously monitoring him.
In this regard, a news published on BBC Urdu’s X (formerly Twitter) account said that Altaf Hussain was shifted to a London hospital due to ‘serious illness’. According to his close aide Qasim Ali Raza, Altaf Hussain has been suffering from mental stress, financial difficulties, and legal issues for a long time, which has had a profound impact on his health.

Meanwhile, Mustafa Azizabadi said in a video statement, “Altaf Bhai’s condition is now improving with the grace and mercy of Allah and the prayers of the workers. There is no truth in the news circulating on social media. The workers should maintain unity and order.”
On the other hand, a social media user, Laraib Fatima, wrote in her message that Altaf Hussain has passed away in London at the age of 71. No party member was present with him in his last moments, and his last rites are likely to be performed in London. However, this statement has not been confirmed by any responsible institution or family so far.
